Today felt like such a lazy summer day and demanded to be treated like one. Woke up early and read the paper, with the intention of starting my culminating project in the afternoon. Instead, Morgan set up a bunny-run in the backyard with some chicken wire and stakes he bought earlier in the week. We spread blankets out and read or played “stickie” with stetson, who was more than happy to chase a green plastic stake around the yard for 20 minutes. The bunnies eventually warmed up to their shanty lean-to and there was much running and binkie-ing.
Later on, after a hot, soggy nap in an 80 degree+ house, we ventured out to exchange some Paul Robinette candles and drop off stuff for goodwill. We also stopped by The Concrete Jungle, nee The Urban Gardner and spent approximately 3984908594859 hours oogling the succuclents (ok maybe just me). We also ran into Jem, who, let me just say, is fast becoming one of my favorite people ever. I finally broke down and bought a ceramic succulent holder and several nice begonias to fill pretty old flowerpots that have been sitting, dusty, in the basement since my last epic experiment with houseplants (which ended in houseplant carnage when Deanna and I moved from east 8th to our house now). We’ll see how long these buggers last this time around. Morgan also geeked out in the herbs section and, in addition to the seedlings he’s sprouting, bought some herb-babies and potted them. We rounded off the night potting the new plants, drinking wine and beer, respectively, and eating the ever so cliched cheese and baguette. All in all a beautifully perfect spring (summer?) day. Pictures of the succulent pot tomorrow.
